OUTREACH

Another important part of the regular service that we do involves reaching out to younger students in our community. We aim to teach them scientific and engineering-related concepts in a fun and engaging way, from making ice cream to building tape bridges. Through these activities, we incorporate ideas from physics, chemistry, and other areas to foster a passion for science in elementary and middle school students.

BOYS & GIRLS CLUB

Our outreach committee, along with any other members who want to volunteer, make multiple trips each quarter to the Boys and Girls club, where they engage with the kids and facilitate various fun experiments that also teach lessons about science. We've done everything from straw rockets to marshmallow structures to invisible ink!

ENGINEERING DISCOVERY DAYS

Every spring we run one of the most popular booths at Engineering Discovery Days, an annual event put on by UW to introduce younger students to engineering interests. We engage kids in an engaging (and tasty!) activity by teaching them how to make ice cream in a bag and what the science behind it is.
